Welcome to Catgirl Studio! My name is Jeanne LeGrand and I create one of a kind art dolls, paintings, and miniatures.

I’ve loved art & creating as far back as I can remember. It was always a part of my life & eventually I attended art school, graduating with a Fine Arts degree. However, by the end of the program I was so burnt out from the punishing hours & rigid structure that I didn’t really create any art again until many years later. I became reinspired after discovering a publication showcasing mixed media art dolls. The pages of imaginative work by so many talented artists motivated me & I began a new chapter in my life with art. I was also able to reconnect to my childhood love of Halloween, which is perhaps why many of my pieces have some sort of spooky and/or glow-in-the-dark element to them.

I’ve also been drawn to the aesthetics of the ethereal; the spiritual essence that lives in all creatures. Sometimes words or song lyrics have inspired me to create a certain piece. I try to stay open-minded, allowing a subject to materialize its own personality & emotion. Every day that I’m in my studio is a day of exploration. I work with a variety of media including acrylic paints, paper, wood, wool, plaster & clay.
